First, THANKS to those of you that have been asked to participate in the Election for the 2011 Board of Governors...and when ASKED...have replied in the POSITIVE! We are looking forward to having an active Board, a busy Club and lots of participation. We won't even mention the quick, witted reply from ED August - yep, Susie still puts up with him!
Gosh, it's always great getting to see everyone at the Club and catching up with all the many things happening in our lives. You always get stuck with my photo albums...could be that I can't remember anything so a picture IS worth a thousand words! This Cooler Weather takes the BEAR out of me and I have been able to catch up on some housekeeping as well as YARD work. When I get more organized then I'm READY TO PLAY! Right now I'm still WATERING Everything. When Bartlesville, yep you Berge, Rose, Torbett, Spear & Larson, all got 5 inches of rain (and you had already gotten more than most) and Broken Arrow only got two showers at 2/10th each. WELL! Heard Grove's rain was sporadic also since Jackie Kreeger said she was told it was a drop in the bucket and B.J. said they got a whole 3 inches of rain. Anyway, this means I'm out in the yard - dragging hoses! Hopefully, the weather will be nice with racing breezes for the Club's
LONG DISTANCE CLASSIC on September 17th-19th and the
PINK RIBBON REGATTA & Fund Raiser on October 2nd. Remember to sort out all that EXTRA stuff you know you have sitting around, taking up too much space and bring it to the Club to SELL for a good cause.
I know it is going to heat back up BRIEFLY but when it cools down again ....WE are probably going to wrestle with Ted & Rosa about those Camp Sites! Now there is A fun group and what happened to those little kids we packed into the truck to go for ICE CREAM? Last time I saw Mellisa...she had a boyfriend in tow! and Matt was taller than his momma! Player beware...they are all great at CARDS. Speaking of CARDS - heard Mariam & Ray Jones were cleaning someone's CLOCK at cards too!
This cooler weather makes me start thinking about the Chili Fest and the pies all those LADIES & Orville bring. Marilyn did have a talk with him about that but he's stubborn and we wouldn't know what to do if he didn't bring his favorite pumpkin pie, right Orville? We've placed bets on that too but we found out he doesn't really RECYCLE them...it's just that he keeps buying the same type & brand - that'll fool ya!
Did you know that 18 of the Club's members live in Grove? Some live elsewhere but have a place to stay in Grove too. A little lady told me she and her husband are planning to sell their home and purchase one in Grove. Ask around... hear they have been re-doing their current home and it's beautiful, right Darlene? So if you've been house hunting in the Bartlesville area... you might want to ask the Berge's about theirs!
Talked to Jackie Kreeger, from Miami, just recently and seems she and Renick are ready to start playing at the Club more too! No, Renick, that does not mean we will rope off a place just for YOUR TRUCK! Think these two stay busy with retailing Baby Items, Pizza & Chicken --- and we often get some of the food stuff, yea! Rod & Lois Arnall, Roger & Brenda Brisco also live up there in Miami and we need for them to "Get back to the Club too!" Haven't seen your smiling faces in quite a while... so put the Club on your Calendar! We miss you guys and we know how crazy Rod is, he'll do almost anything....remember the Luau "CUT-OUTS and the coconut bras?"
Looking forward to sunny, cool days and sailing breezes -- See you at the Lake!
