 MAY SCUTTLEBUTT  2010

One week into the month of May – and I’m loving it – it is a nice COOL 70 degrees!  Now if the weather (Rain & 40 mph winds) abate EVERYONE can actually get some Sailing done. Gentle, steady breezes Please.

Have Y’ALL gotten your Veggie Garden planted ? and chores done ? if so - that means you can ‘book it’ to the Club.  Ah, a day spent cleaning the sludge that grows on the boat bottom that those fish like to EAT and helps keep you awake most of the night! Clean it UP.

Doesn’t that nice, new railing look pretty beside the Clubhouse – so does the new bergee flying our Club colors at the Flag Mast. Thanks Stan.

The Moore’s decided they had to MOVE or have a Yard Sale! Heard Bob was selling while Kitty was busy ‘putting back’ – you know sometimes ya just decided you DON’T want to part with it after all!

Dewey has been gardening – he never does it the simple way.  Nope he drove a monster DIGGER out of his storage shed and did several passes with that equipment and had an 8 x 6 plot of soil all ready for his plants.  He and B.J. are bound and determined to have a big supply of Tomatoes this year.  Don’t we ALL want that!  Good for the SALADS and meals shared at the Clubhouse.

Okay, where has someone hidden Virginia Buoen?  That sailor is usually down at the boat before now. She can make you laugh at the stories she tells – never a dull moment there.  Come on, Don, let her out!

Do we need to yell – Ollie, Ollie, Ollie all in FREE…? Where is everyone?

The PotLuck Dinner after the Boat Clean-up Day was a fun one. The Ladies were so caught up in their conversation -if we told ya what it was about then we'd have to kill ya-  that they didn't pay any attention to the dish pick-up being done by Kurt Hagen. He got busy and churned up some SUDS and it ended up with the GUYS doing the dishes! Sybil Markle noticed but we IMMEDIATELY brought her back to her senses and told her to continue to just enjoy the MOMENT!

Can you believe it that we are almost half-way through this year! It is a ramped up sailing season for racing.  Haven’t heard how things are going BECAUSE SOMEONE SAID HE WOULD DO A WRITE-UP – AND I HAVEN’T SEEN IT YET…RIGHT MR. BUDDY HATCH!  Guess we’ll have to ask Kathi Brown to pitch in with some info to share with everyone.

Speaking of members that haven’t been about … Saw Mike Mayer briefly; he went by so fast that I didn’t get to ask him what mischief Celie was up to – same with Don Lagerlef to inquire about Ann. Jo and John Porter manage to dabble in the water or at the boat now and then. Bruce & Darlene, Rod & Lois Arnall, Jimmy & Ruth Carter, Casey Davis, Pat McKee, Ed Nunn…and scads MORE…..guess we need to get a “Whisker Pole” and rattle it into those places to get everyone’s attention that the Sailing ‘Eating’ Season is back ON!

Mark Gardner, Commodore, says to MARK your calendars for the BLESSING OF THE FLEET which is coming up this month on Saturday the 15th.  The following weekend after that is the GRAND CUP RACE and the weekend after that is Memorial Day! We’ll have plenty of things to do for FUN this month!  Come on down to the Grand Lake Sailing Club…See you there!
