It looks like Sept. 2009 is in the vault. The month centered around Pink Ribbon activities.
First we had a real active cleanup day to put the finishing touches on the GLSC and it shines. We had 27 members that worked very hard, and their pride in GLSC shows. The storage area hasn’t looked this clean in years. It makes a good impression of the club when members and guests enter the grounds. Lots of touch up also and the auction boat was cleaned. Boy did it need help.
The Pink Ribbon Party went on as scheduled on the 19th. A report is pending from the chairwoman Cecelia Mayer. The Pink Regatta was held on Sept 26th, with perfect air (what a change). The winners were, Spinnaker Class 1st the O’Dells 2nd Buddy Hatch. Class A 1st the C. Smiths, 2nd the Buoens, 3rd the Mayers. Class B 1st Cawthons, 2nd. The Roses, 3rd. Bill Skea. Cruiser class 1st. Mark Gardner. We hear that Virginia Buoen now carries a red protest flag in her purse where ever she goes. She was also seen giving “right of way scolding” to someone.
The “power boat parking” in the storage area was voted down by the BOG while the appearance of vessels. No. 73 was voted in by a large majority. There are several boats that have more or less been abandoned in their slips or storage area and are real eye sores to GLSC. All this asks, is for members to take pride in their boats and in GLSC. Proud to say about 75% of the members do. The BOG would like to thank the members for their emails with advice, suggestions, concerns and support on these two issues.
H.M. Dewey Brady had some dock repair made and have you noticed the level walkways between C-D-E Docks????????? Thanks Dewey
